Study a less commonly taught language with a Boren Awards scholarship or fellowship.
Boren Scholarships and Fellowships, sponsored by the National Security Education Program (NSEP), provide funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. As students of other languages and cultures, Boren Scholars and Fellows significantly advance the international competencies needed to communicate more effectively, to understand other perspectives, and to conduct analyses in a variety of contexts (economic, political, media, religious, cultural).
